11/9/2023 0 Comments Have a nice death android![]() Since the dawn of time, Death has roamed the realm of the living collecting and reaping the souls of the dead, however as a millennia went by, he has grown bored of the same gimmick over and over again, so to make his job easy, he summons beings known as "The Sorrows" to do his job for him by bringing pollution, gluttony, disease, addictions, natural disasters, and war to the mortal world all while Death does the paperwork at his newly found business of Death Inc, located deep within the underworld. A shop allows players to purchase on weapon of their choice. In each game, two additional weapons or spells are randomly selected, which they can also use. Players can unlock abilities that persist through deaths, potentially allowing them to reach further after each session. Players can optionally choose to make their character stronger for less challenge and more power-ups. Players must defeat workers who have become out of control, including boss fights against some of Death's major subordinates. It is a side-scrolling action game with platform game and roguelite elements, such as permadeath and procedural generation of levels. Players control the CEO of Death Incorporated, a personification of death. Players control Death as he fights against unruly subordinates. Leveling up isn't so rewarding, too, with sometimes very little to gain.Despite some issues, Have a Nice Death is a great game, and if you like dark humor and difficult battles, you'll no doubt have a blast in this fast-based afterlife brawler.Have a Nice Death is a 2023 action game developed by Magic Design Studios and published by Gearbox Publishing. And you are sent back to your office and have to start again, you don't get to keep everything you "died" with, making it even more difficult. As for weapons, there are more than 30, but there aren't as many defensive moves or maneuvers, so it could be quite the work to defeat some bosses. The first thing players will likely appreciate is the long list of scythes and other (secondary) weapons and spells you can take advantage of, with many tied to a particular department you're in, which is also tied to a different means of dying (without spoiling any surprises for you). Overall, though, Have a Nice Death is full of character and charm, and excellent production values, including smoothly animated (and memorable) characters, like "Sorrows" and "Thanagers," and an exceptional music soundtrack. ![]() This is especially true after "dying," which really means restarting from your paper-stacked office. ![]() But even though the levels are procedurally generated - meaning no two environments, its inhabitants, or its items, like food and currency ("Soulery" and "Prismium") will be placed the same for all players - the appeal starts to wane a little after a few frantic rounds. You'll eventually have access to elevators which can help streamline some of the navigation, too (and skip directly to some very tough mini-boss and big boss characters). Have a Nice Death is an imaginative, fast-paced spin on roguelike action that packs a serious punch when you're in the thick of it, especially with the unlockable and upgradeable weapons and abilities to unleash on a bizarre cast of characters. This is a funny and challenging single-player romp that ought to keep you glued to the screen for several hours on end. Leveling up adds extra abilities and other benefits once you continue to fight again. As you're reminded by your pumpkin-headed colleague, Pump Quinn, you need to right the wrong within the organization and hope to avoid "dying," which means starting all over again in a mountain of paperwork of unprocessed souls. Armed with a scythe and several other weapons and spells (and upgrades), you'll hack n' slash through several dark and dangerous levels, confronting all kinds of unique enemies and tougher boss characters. ![]() But due to incompetence of his employees, a reluctant Death takes it upon himself to slay his staff and other undead characters that stand between him and his vacation, and to help restore the balance of order. ![]() But instead of dungeons, here you assume the role of Death (represented as a cartoon-like Grim Reaper) who runs, jumps and fights through varying departments of Death Incorporated, a company that processes souls in the afterlife. HAVE A NICE DEATH is a hand-drawn side-scroller/platformer with roguelike elements, as you're running through randomly generated 2D levels. ![]()
